Over the past twenty-five years I have written a number of articles and papers on Jamaican history, which I think are of some
value to anyone interested in that field. The articles are in various periodicals and books which may not be easily available
to the general public; the papers have never appeared in any publication.
It seems to me that a website is probably the best way to bring this material together in a location which is available
to anyone who can access the Web. I hope that in this format the pieces I have written may introduce some ideas and lines
of thought which are different and thought-provoking.
Most of my research and writing has been on the period of Jamaican history from 1865 (Morant Bay 'Rebellion') to the end of
World War I. Relatively little has been written on this period in Jamaica, so any additions to the small amount of material
available should be of value. My interests in the period are chiefly political, social and biographical and my articles reflect
those interests.
I also have an interest in the Maroons of Jamaica, especially the Leeward Maroons; this interest is at least in part the
result of family links with the Maroons of Charles Town.
